I lost a library publication. How do I resolve this situation?

If you have lost a University of Minho library publication, you must report this situation at the service desk of any University of Minho library. You will be given an item replacement form.

The replacement should be made with a copy of the same or a later edition than the lost publication.

Item replacement is always subject to the payment of the minimum technical processing fee for the new copy, as indicated in the current USDB price and fee schedule.

In cases where replacing the exact publication is not feasible due to market unavailability, replacement with an item of similar subject content and monetary value may be considered, subject to approval from the Head of the Librarianship and Library Management Division. Second-hand or damaged items will not be accepted for replacement.

The user can purchase the replacement publication(s) themselves, or they can request that the library purchase it. If the library makes the purchase, the amount payable (which will not be less than the minimum compensation value indicated in the current USDB price and fee schedule) must always include all anticipated acquisition costs plus the technical processing fee for the new item.

Please consult the UMinho Libraries Regulations.
